The Brazilian Association of Aesthetics is affiliated with the International Association for Aesthetics (http://iaaesthetics.org), a cultural non-profit institution that brings together over thirdy national associations and over two thousand members. Every three years IAA holds its official event, and the first International Congress of Aesthetics took place in Berlin in 1918, presided by Max Dessoir. Its main goal since then has been not only to promote the research in aesthetics and its relation to the arts, nature, culture and daily life, but also to offer institutional recognition to aesthetics as a human science field.
